Roman wedding

This year during a city break in Rome I spotted this just-hitched couple for a photo shoot close to the Spanish steps on the Piazza Spagna.

I was enchanted by the gorgeousness of the dress of the bride. Some of the details are so pretty and delicate.

However, I shot the pictures before they were posing for the professional photo maker, and I was somewhat mesmerized with her facial expression. She looks either somewhat bored or not into the wedding bliss of the day.

In front of the professional camera, she puts on her happy face and big smile and cuddles up to her new hubby, however, they seem quite detached in the first picture too.

She is such a perfect bride, stylewise. Her makeup is absolutely reminiscent of the 50s starlettes, and the sophistication of the lace in her wedding dress is whimsically romantic and classically sophisticated.

The groom, looks quite smug and happy all the time, even when he does not have to pose. Look at him smiling.

I like the combination of his clothes, it is not too impeccably groomed (no pun intented) but still styling and he seems to have lots of fun being the groom.

The back of her dress and the clothes. Darn, I put my finger in front of the camera, otherwise it would be a lovely shot (with the shadow of the palm trees and the gorgeous building)

More detail of the lower part of her dress.

The only faux-part, in my opinion, are her peeptoe cream shoes.

Another picture…he is beaming…Who said that men have to be dragged into marriage? (it almost seems that she is the reluctant one, but she may have been tired of the day, who knows)

I normally do not quote Beyonce but I keep on having her song Single Ladies in my head when I zoomed in on the ring….”put a ring on it”…

Her ring is just like the rest of her outfit: classic but whimsically beautiful and fitting to the rest of her outfit.

TFF (tuesday Fashion Find): Dazzle in Nude

This tuesday, I have been deeply enamorated with this Miss Selfridge Nude Droplet Bead Dress:

It absolutely ticks all of the fashion boxes and the cuteness and originality boxes:

* It is made in a nude colour
* the beaded embellishments give it a vintage, flapper-esque quality. So it is vintage-looking without the accompaning vintage scent (aka the stench that sometimes linger in beautifully lovely vintage dresses)
* It is absolutely useless for daily tasks, imagine doing your groceries in that dress, which makes it undeniably perfect for that special occasion in the nighttime setting.
* It is Girly with a capital G. Perhaps Womanly with a capital W. No mixed messages (only if you wear it with a tux or other masculine-themed accessories)
* Affordable for 85 pounds
*It is such an intricate piece. Look at how the backside differs in a gorgeously and sensual manner.

I actually do not want to give the link, because I want to keep it for myself. However, here you go (here)

A cuddle before the return

This wonderfully orange patent wedge was one of my online purchases from Topshop last week:

Indeed, was

They are really lovely and in such a feisty and nationalistically concious colour (the soccer team of the Netherlands has orange as their prime colour).

However, the wooden wedges make a bit too much noise when walking. My feet are also a bit too small for them.

Also, I received my highly coveted and lusted after SWEDISH HASBEENS this week! Oh, they are orgasmically cute.

One of the clog-like shoes had to go, so the Topshop ones were the ones to go on the return express.

Even though they are adorable, especially in the arms of the gnome.

So, that was one last cuddle for the picture before they parted.

(oh, if you are interested in them, they are probably still for sale on Topshop.com over here, also in a poppy yellow colour)

The Glamtux

Meet my dear ol’ friend ‘the glamtux’. He has been decorated on a woodland lamppost to adorn his versility…

Last year there was this incredible interest in everything blazer and feminized tuxes in all kind of shops. Well, I snapped up this piece from Topshop.

We do not have a ‘brick-and-mortar’ Topshop in our country, so I have to rely on the mailorder and internet for snapping up some Toppers.
The glamtux has not been receiving the attention it deserves. It still has the tag on, and is hanging between its more used fellow blazers, who are bragging about the cities and places they have been.
Still, it can still claim to be new and to be saved for special occasions, and actually…it should be used for a special occasion.
Look at the manner it looks at daytime. The fabric of the tux looks a bit plasticy and the golden spots do not light up.

Only, the same tux looks actually glowing and shining in a sunset-eque and nighttime-type environment…why haven’t I seen that before?

Here I decorated the tux with a whimsical sheer overdress, that rather is reminiscent of 70s boudoir divas or the soft-romance variety. The nude colour makes it look very 2010.
It is semi-masculine meets whimsical feminine chic.

Indeed, it is a 2010 piece as she has been bought from the same Topshop in 2010. It is from Yuki and was a lovely sale (I believe 25 pounds)

Blast from the Past: Peggy Guggenheim

I have scanned this article from the Elle UK February 2008.

Modernism influenced by Peggy Guggenheim that transfused in fashion.

The Giambattista Valli dress that is only partly portrayed in the scan is one of those pieces that would be perfect for both garden parties as city trips in warmer climates…

As for those flat Miu Miu shoes: they are absolutely elegant with a artistic twist. Also, they are a reflreshing and confortable alternative from those sky-scraper heels, therefore fantastic for trotting around in a sophisticated fashion.

Tuesday Fashion find

During my fashion browsing moments I found a couple of covet-worthy cream pirate boots on etsy.com. (listing).

mmm, these are delightfully 80s retro and have that 70s vibe as well.

They would be mine, if only the size was right. They areĀ an american 7.5 (UK 5 and European 38).

Nevertheless, it gives me a fantastic idea of upcycling my other cream vintage boots with a piece of (leather) robe…Simple and chic!

Disclaimer: I have a small blog and I have not been payed/coerced/bragged or otherwise to promote these boots or seller…I just like them myself ;D

Boho mix

I found this picture in my files, however, I cannot be sure from what magazine or what year it is from.

This aspect of not knowing actually adds interest to it. I do not like to pinpoint myself too much to a fashionable look, and the mixture of boho and luxury looks refeshingly now.

Photobucket

Her cuff looks absolutely covet-worthy. I love her entire style, btw,
